Report on current situation2.1)
Haggen2.1.1) As the Project Manager of Creative Commons employed Journalism and Media Studies Centre, he needed to spend considerable time on research and to secure fundings. For those who wanted to start new projects under CC, they needed to in bring their own resources.
2.1.2) Liberal Studies - Creative Commons had an edge in the New Senior Secondary (NSS) Curriculum as Liberal Studies teachers were expected to put together teaching materials rather than heavily based on textbook. For the current curriculum,
teaching materials were provided by the Education Bureau. Haggen would investigate opportunities in this area and seek funding.
2.1.3) e-Book - This direction was proposed in the
Chief Executive's Policy Address. The group discussed a number of possible obstacles in e-Book adoptions in schools and vested interests from different parties. Jeromy suggested to look into schools that currently developed their own textbooks.
2.1.4) Knowledge Team and OpenCourseWare -
Knowledge Team was a group of academics in HKU devoted to helping HKU make better informed decisions and develop better strategies for using ICT to enhance teaching and learning. Pindar presented on 21 Nov and introduced CCHK to the group. Haggen would investigate the possibilities to build alliances and promote OpenCourseWare within HKU. John suggested to apply for
QEF funding as the HKU the
Teaching Development Grant had a strong focus on 4-year undergraduate curriculum reform.
2.1.5) Hong Kong Memory - Patrick Mok from Hong Kong Memory expressed the potential for the project to adopt CC licences on part of the collection. There is also possible to collaborate with CC on registration of digitized artefacts. Haggen would follow up.
